Teflon tape
DESCRIPTION –
Thread seal tape used in plumbing applications is most commonly white, but it is also available in various colors. It is often used to correspond to color coded pipelines yellow for natural gas, green for oxygen, etc.). These color-codes for thread sealing tape were introduced by Bill Bentley of UNICCO Pty Ltd in the 1970s. In the UK, tape is used from colored reels, e.g. yellow reels for gas, green for Oxygen
RECOMMENDED USES –
Teflon® Tape is a common, inexpensive and effective thin white tape used to seal pipe threads being joined together for plumbing jobs.
It is used to seal water, air, gas from leaking through threaded connections that don’t have a built in rubber seal. Technically known as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) it is silky in texture and breaks in a stringy manner.
